Fr. Mark A. Finan, born in 1916, was a Jesuit priest who according to the Jesuit province of the Midwest has been credibly accused of child sexual abuse. Finan entered the Jesuit Order in 1934 and was ordained to priesthood in 1948. According to accusations, he engaged in child sexual abuse before his ordination, while teaching at St. Ignatius College Preparatory School in Chicago. Finan later in his career abused more students while working at St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati, Ohio in the years 1963 and 1965. He spent six years at Loyola University Chicago between 1967 and 1973, but public records do not reveal what role he had here.[1] Finan was dismissed from the Jesuit order in 1973 for undisclosed reasons. After his dismissal he served in Los Angeles in some unknown function, the details of which are not available in public records. Finan passed away in 1993. He was buried on a priest plot, which indicates that while he ceased being a Jesuit, he was never laicized.
